Seychelles: THE Celebrity Honeymoon Destination

With the recent news that British beauty Elizabeth Hurley is currently visiting the our tropical islands, we thought that it would be a fun blog to fill you in on the many celebrities that have chosen the Seychelles for their honeymoons and holidays.

The Seychelles government recently introduced laws to protect the privacy of celebrities seeking solace from their A-list lifestyles, which is seeing more and more celebrities gracing our azure shores each and every year.

Find out who has visited our island paradise below;

1. Elizabeth and Damian Hurley

Elizabeth Hurley has been the envy of fans this week as she is currently enjoying a tropical island getaway at the luxurious Sixth Senses Zil Pasyon on Félicité Island with her son Damian. The 51-year-old actress has shared stunning bikini clad photos on her instagram account and as Hello! Magazine recently commented “we’re not sure what we’re more jealous of – her incredible bikini body or the luxurious resort she is staying at!”

2. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston

The once golden couple honeymooned at a luxurious Fregate Private Island after their wedding in 2000. Named after the local Fregate bird, the paradise island is for those seeking a unique experience – a sanctuary of clear waters, shimmering white beaches, and endemic birds which offers a haven of tranquility and much needed privacy.

3. Prince William and Duchess Kate

Royal couple Prince William and Duchess Kate of Cambridge spent 10 days on North Island after their wedding in April 2011. The country did its best to give the couple their privacy despite massive media interests from the UK tabloids however it didn’t quite go to plan as images soon surfaced.

4. Ronan Keating and Storm Uechtritz

Ronan Keating whisked wife Storm Uechtritz to private resort island of Fregate in 2015. The lovebirds enjoyed many Seychelles’ sunsets on the magical island and from all accounts deep sea fishing was one of their favourite activities during their island getaway.

5. George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin

North Island of the Seychelles archipelago was the perfect honeymoon location for this power couple after their Venice wedding in 2014. North Island is a haven for endemic species and is cradled by powdery-white beaches and the clear blue ocean. It’s also not short of a refreshing Seybrew or two as obviously enjoyed by George.

6. Ciara and Russell Wilson

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson popped the big question to Grammy-award-winning singer Ciara while visiting the Seychelles islands in 2016. The engaged couple enjoyed a relaxing beach vacation together in celebration at the exclusive and private North Island Resort.

7. David and Victoria Beckham

Unlike their highly publicised wedding in 1999, the loved-up couple ditched the spotlight for a very private and intimate getaway to celebrate their 10 year anniversary in 2009. Staying at both a luxury resort on the main island of Mahe and also an eco spa resort on a neighbouring private island, the Beckhams splashed out a whopping £50,000 on their 10-day stay to ensure it was an anniversary to remember.

8. Nicky Hilton and James Rothschild

The younger sister of well-known socialite Paris Hilton and husband James Rothschild hopped to the Seychelles islands for the last leg of their honeymoon after a safari in Botswana. The couple who got married in 2015 is believed to have stayed at the exclusive North Island private resort.

9. Salma Hayek and  Francois-Henri Pinault

After a wedding ceremony in Venice in 2009 Salma Hayek and French husband Francois-Henri Pinault travelled to North Island Resort for their honeymoon. Three granite peaks enclose the island’s lush forests. The calm and serene island is the ideal place for honeymooners.

10. Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills

Former Beatles member Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Heather Mills honeymooned in the Seychelles in 2002, staying at the popular celeb holiday spot “Fregate Private Island”. Sadly this union was not one to last but at least they both have wonderful memories of their first (and hopefully not last) visit to the Seychelles.

… and of course can’t forget to mention our first ever celebrity to visit to “Le Nautique Seychelles”, the UK’s favourite psychic Sally Morgan. Sally and her lovely husband John visited the Seychelles over Christmas and New Year 2016 and had positive vibes about the future of “Le Nautique Seychelles” …… watch this space!
